Go Utah! Only a fraction of you are crazy! It is initially surprising that conservative, lily-white Utah is less nuts than, say, Virginia. But when you think about it for a minute, it makes sense.

That's an amazing statistic, considering the make-up of the state.

Utahns are still crazy, just not about this.

I'm thinking this must be some kind of statistical anomaly.

As funny as everyone thinks this is, I don't. Utah is a very progressive state and, I'm proud that we're not big on birthers.

Yes, Mormons can be a little weird sometimes, but that has nothing to do with Utah. Salt Lake City is only 40% Mormon, that's pretty small compared to the foothold of Catholicism in many eastern cities.

No, I have been to Utah several times. It's a beautiful state, but it does have Orrin Hatch who gives it an odd reputation.

What is the percentage Mormon for the state as a whole?

As far as I understand it, 60% of the state is Mormon.

I will agree with you on Orrin Hatch, I don't get how he still has an office. No worries though, Utah will be in play for Dems soon enough. Utah has an incredibly young and affluent population, which by my own account is pretty liberal.

Yeah, cause it only took them until 2009 to get liquor by the drink...

That's because many folks in Utah are convinced that Obama is the anti-Christ and sprang from the loins of a jackal -- nation of origin unknown.

(Non sequitur: Remember that classic line from My Cousin Vinnie -- "What's a Ute?")

I hope when his terms are over, it's discovered that Obama is from Moscow, and is the half brother of Putin.

We do have the crazies here - but don't discount us all!

I've actually seen more people from the South claiming this than I have heard in my own state. Though, I do live in a liberal county and city, so, I can't speak for what they believe in Central and Southern Utah.

There are unenlightened people everywhere as there seem to have been forever and will probably be for whatever eternity the unenlightened will sustain.

I look at this as a confirmation that the majority of birthers tend to be racists from the old South.
